NextEnergy Foundation (NEF) is an international charity which was founded in 2016. Our mission is to participate proactively in the global effort to reduce carbon emissions, provide clean power sources in regions where they are not yet available, and contribute to poverty alleviation.
The NextEnergy Group, as the founding sponsor of the NextEnergy Foundation, donates at least 5% of its net annual profits to the Foundation.
Since 2023, the NextEnergy Foundation has operated under a strategic framework centred on three core thematic areas: Education, Health & Water, and Improved Livelihoods. In addition, between 2022 and 2025, NEF supported a portfolio of Nature-Based Projects. Alongside these focus areas, the Foundation also provides support through Emergency Interventions, responding to urgent humanitarian needs around the world.
Education
We implement projects that improve educational opportunities and outcomes through access to clean energy. Examples include solar installations in schools, lamp libraries, and energy related education and training programs.
Health & Water
These projects leverage renewable energy technologies to enhance access to healthcare services and clean water. Examples include solar installations on health centres and solar-powered water pumping and purification systems.
Improved Livelihoods
We support communities and individuals in building climate change-resilient livelihoods and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Initiatives include launching and scaling renewable energy businesses, installing solar streetlights, and addressing fuel poverty.
Nature
In addition to our core area, for the period 2022-25, NEF has supported seven Nature-Based Projects, focused on biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, forest restoration, and the protection of habitats for vulnerable and endangered species.
Emergency Interventions
NEF provides rapid support to communities affected by pandemics, armed conflicts, natural disasters, and other humanitarian crises. Our interventions include the delivery of essential supplies, medical assistance, energy access solutions, and initiatives to improve living conditions during emergencies.
