New Project: Energy in Periphery (Milan)
Date: 13/10/2021
NextEnergy Foundation is excited to announce that it is supporting a new project, Energia in Periferia (Energy in Periphery), in Italy.
The project aims to support families in vulnerable socio-economic situations in the periphery of Milan, specifically the area of Quarto Oggiaro, and will be undertaken in collaboration with Banco dell’Energia, Caritas, and the Municipality of Milan. Support will be provided to 100 families struggling from the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through both short- and long-term energy-related interventions. The short-term intervention will involve paying the electricity bills for these families. This will be supplemented by a longer-term workstream undertaken to breakdown the families’ electricity usage and educate them on energy conservation so as to reduce their electricity bills in future. A third component of the project is to provide LED lightbulbs to each family to maximise energy efficiency, carried out in partnership with Signify-Philips.
For more information, please visit the project page. More details about the impact of the project will be shared following the completion of all three workstreams in January 2022.
